Connecting your iPhone to your Panix account
Where to start!?
Mail accounts on your iPhone are created & controlled using the Settings app: pick Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Editing an existing account
Updating your password
In Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your account. Select your account name under "IMAP". On the next screen, scroll down to "Incoming Mail Server", and enter your new password in the Password field.
You'll need to do the same for Outgoing Mail. Scroll down to "Outgoing Mail Server" and select the server listed in the SMTP field. On the next screen, select the Primary Server, and enter your new password in the Password field. Then select "Done".
Advanced Settings
After creation, select the new account from your accounts list in Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Scroll to the bottom, select Advanced.
Drafts, Sent and Deleted default to folders on your iPhone. If you want to really delete mail from your Panix account when you delete it off your phone, you must select "Trash" (or whatever you've named your Trash or Deleted messages folder on Panix) On the Server.
Likewise, if you want mail that you send from your phone to be available in all mail clients (including webmail), you must select "Sent" On the Server.
Your IMAP Path Prefix is also set on this screen. It should be '/'.
Fetch New Data - configuring the iPhone to automatically check mail
By default, the iPhone will only check the server for new mail when you tell it to. You can set it to automatically connect to the server and inform you of new mail.
In Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendar, enter Fetch New Data. Under the "Fetch" menu are four options:
- Every 15 Minutes
- Every 30 Minutes
- Hourly
- Manually
Select the one which best suits your preferences. Keep in mind that setting the iPhone to check mail more frequently will drain the battery faster.
To enable this setting, go into "Advanced". You'll find a list of the mail accounts which you've set up on the iPhone, and can tap each entry to configure the schedule it uses to check mail. For Panix, this will either be "Fetch" or "Manual"; Select "Fetch" to enable automatic mail fetching.
